Jobs at the Annual Meeting
The Employment Center, sponsored by SBL and the American Academy of Religion, provides the opportunity for employers and those seeking employment to register for interviews at the Annual Meetings, as well as interview facilities, job listings, candidate credentials, and a messaging service. The point is for both candidates and employers to reduce costs of travel and time by facilitating the engagement of both parties in multiple interviews in a neutral environment. As the Annual Meetings are the major congressional venue for reporting current research, meeting colleagues, and making new connections, they also offers candidates the opportunity to obtain professional development—by engaging scholars, hearing lectures, giving papers, and participating in sessions.
  • Please note the Terms and Conditions for posting an ad.
  • SBL expects all employers to comply with Federal EEO laws.  For disability needs at the Annual Meetings, please contact Charlie Haws. We will make every effort to appropriately accommodate individuals with disabilities.

  • Please see this additional information.

Candidate Registration
Candidate registration is available through Annual Meeting registration. Candidates may pre-register for $25 to post their credentials in a secure online forum accessible only to registered employers. Registered candidates are also able to contact registered employers and set-up interviews at the Annual Meetings Employment Center. The CV upload function is not yet available. We will send an email to all registered candidates to let them know how to do this as soon as it is ready.

Employer Registration
Employer registration enables you to view the credentials of SBL and AAR members who have registered as Employment Center candidates.  Candidates can also view your jobs and make inquiries directly to you.  Online registration will close temporarily on October 24, 2011 and be reinstated on November 16, 2011.

Private Interview Room Registration
Reservation of booths and private interview rooms (PIR) happens when you submit a job ad.  The cost of booth space is included in employer registration; PIR space is available at additional cost. Online registration will close temporarily on October 24, 2011 and be reinstated on November 16, 2011.

Employers must be registered for the Employment Center in order to register for a PIR.
